Eight bronze medal matches decided in national archery

DHAKA, March 3, 2021 (BSS)- Eight bronze medal matches were decided on the
second day through the elimination round in the Bangabandhu 12th National
Archery Championship held today at Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium
in Cox’s Bazar.

Country’s ace archer Ruman Sana of Bangladesh Ansar won the bronze medal in
the recurve men’s singles event beating Ashikur Rahman of Dhaka Army Archery
Club by 6-4 set points while Diya Siddique of Bangladesh Krira Shikkha
Prothistan (BKSP) bagged the bronze recurve women’s singles event defeating
Mosammat Eti Khatun of Bangladesh Police Archery Club by 6-0 set points.

In the compound men’s singles event, Mohammad Ashikuzzaman (Bangladesh
Police Archery Club) beat Asim Kumar Das of the same team 144-142 to secure
bronze medal while Ritu Akter of Bangladesh Police Archery Club defeated
Bonna Akter of Bangladesh Ansar 136-135 to secure bronze in the compound
women’s singles events,

In the recurve men’s teamevent, Bangladesh Police Archery Club beat
Bangladesh Ansar by 6-2 set to secure bronze medal while Bangladesh Police
Archery Club defeated Bangladesh Ansar by by 5-4 set points to secure bronze
medal in the recurve women’s team event.

In the compound men’s team event, BKSP beat Bangladesh Ansar 222-218 to
secure bronze medal while Bangladesh Ansar defeated ASPTS Archery Club 222-
215 by securing bronze in the compound women’s team event.

The gold medal matches will be decided tomorrow at the same venue.

State Minister for Youth and Sports Mohammad Zahid Ahsan Russell is
expected to present in the closing ceremony of the meet and distribute the
prizes.

Approximately 150 archers from 40 teams are taking part in the meet
sponsored by City Group. The competitions feature 10 events– five each in
recurve and compound.
