Three more tested COVID-19 positive in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, March 3, 2021 (BSS) – Three more people were tested for COVID-19 positive today raising the total number of coronavirus infected patients to 15,849 in all eight districts of Rangpur division.

Health officials said the three new cases were reported after diagnosing 168 samples at the infection rate of about 1.79 percent in the division where the infection rate continues declining during the last more than two months.

All of the three new patients reported, were reported positive after diagnosing 94 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

“The three new patients include one from Rangpur and two from Nilphamari districts,” said Chief of the Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu.

Meanwhile, none was reported positive after diagnosing 74 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur.

Talking to BSS tonight, Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the number of COVID-19 patients rose to 15,849 as three new positive cases were reported from across the division today.

“The district-wise break up of total 15,848 patients stands at 4,046 in Rangpur, 795 in Panchagarh, 1,333 in Nilphamari, 966 in Lalmonirhat, 1,020 in Kurigram, 1,512 in Thakurgaon, 4,712 in Dinajpur and 1,465 in Gaibandha,” Dr. Siddiqui added.
