BAF chief leaves for Sri Lanka

DHAKA, March 3,2021(BSS)-Chief of Air Staff of Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) Air Chief Marshal Masihuzzaman Serniabat today left Dhaka for Sri Lanka on a six-day official visit.

He left the country by a C-130J aircraft of BAF at the invitation of Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force Air Marshal SK Pathirana on the occasion of the 70th Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Air Force.

During the visit,BAF Chief will participate in various events to mark the 70th Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Air Force.

He will take part in a Colour Award Ceremony at the Sri Lanka Air Force Base Katunayake where the President of Sri Lanka Gotabaya Rajapaksa will be present as the chief guest.

On the occasion, the air chief will present a book to the President on The ‘Unfinished Memoirs ‘written by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

BAF chief will also pay courtesy call on the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka Mahinda Rajapaksa, Commander of Pacific Air Forces General Kenneth S Wilsbach and Secretary of Defence Ministry of General G D H Kamal Gunaratne (Retd) and exchange greetings.

He will also call on Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force at the Sri Lanka Air Force Headquarters and exchange views on different issues of bilateral interests.

Chief of Air Staff of Bangladesh Air Force will witness Air Show of Sri Lanka Air Force and will exchange views on professional matters with the Air Chiefs of the participating countries.

During his stay in Sri Lanka, Chief of Air Staff of Bangladesh Air Force will visit important military and civil installations including Sri Lanka Air Force Museum.

The visit will play a vital role for strengthening the relationship between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka and widening the scope of mutual cooperation in the professional sectors.

He is expected to return on March 8, 2021.
