Four to die for killing woman in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, March 3, 2021 (BSS) – A court here today sentenced four persons to death for killing a woman in the city five years back.

Additional Metropolitan Session Judge Shariful Alam Bhuiyan pronounced
the verdict convicting Mohammad Yasin, 27, son of late Nurul Islam, Md
Mansur, 25, son of Mohammad Musa, Mohammad Abu Tayob alias Rana, 24, son of
Mohammad Yusuf and Md. Ishaq,27, son of Ahmad Safa.

The court also fined them Taka 20 thousand each.

The prosecution story, in brief, is that Parveen Akter, wife of Nurul
Alam, a resident of Roufabad Bangladesh Co-operative Housing Society in the
city, was killed at their own residence on March 5, 2016.

Nurul Alam filed a murder case with Biyazid thana on March 7 in 2016.
Police submitted charge sheet accusing four people on June 13, 2016.

The court framed charges against the culprits on March 5 in 2017 and
pronounced the judgment after examining 16 prosecution’s witnesses out of 29.

The judge delivered the verdict in absence of three convicted persons
except Mohammad Yasin. Other three remained fugitive after getting bail,
court sources said.
