15,200 COVID-19 patients recover in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, March 3, 2021 (BSS) – The number of recovered coronavirus (COVID-
19) patients rose to 15,200 with the healing of one more infected person in
Rangpur division on Tuesday.

At the same time, the number of total infected patients jumped to 15,846
as two new COVID-19 positive cases were reported after testing 175 collected
samples with the daily infection rate of 1.14 percent in the division.

“The 15,200 coronavirus patients out of total 15,846 have healed in the
division with the average recovery rate of 95.92 percent,” said Focal Person
of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA
Siddiqui.

Currently, the 15,200 recovered patients included 3,689 of Rangpur, 771 of
Panchagarh, 1,300 of Nilphamari, 953 of Lalmonirhat, 980 of Kurigram, 1,473
of Thakurgaon, 4,600 of Dinajpur and 1,434 of Gaibandha districts in the
division.

“The district-wise break up of total 15,846 patients stands at 4,045 in
Rangpur, 795 in Panchagarh, 1,331 in Nilphamari, 966 in Lalmonirhat, 1,020 in
Kurigram, 1,512 in Thakurgaon, 4,712 in Dinajpur and 1,465 in Gaibandha,” Dr.
Siddiqui added.

Since the beginning of outbreak of the pandemic, a total of 1,08,175
collected samples of Rangpur division were tested till Tuesday, and of them,
15,846 were found COVID-19 positive with an average infection rate of 14.65
percent.

Talking to BSS today, Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Md. Ahad Ali said
the number of fatalities remained steady at 308 in the division with one more
death reported from Rangpur on Tuesday.

The district-wise break up of the 308 fatalities stands at 72 in Rangpur,
111 in Dinajpur, 34 in Thakurgaon, 28 in Nilphamari, 15 in Kurigram, 20 in
Panchagarh, 17 in Gaibandha and 11 in Lalmonirhat districts of the division,
he said.

“The average casualty rate currently stands at 1.94 percent in the
division,” he said.

Among the total 15,846 COVID-19 infected patients, eight are undergoing
treatments at isolation units after recovery of 15,200 patients and 308
deaths while 330 are remaining in home isolations across the division.

Since the beginning, a total of 95,558 people of the division were put in
quarantine, and of them, 93,186 were released and 2,372 are currently
remaining in home quarantine.

“Meanwhile, a total 3,03,092 citizens, including 1,94,296 males and
1,08,796 females, have so far been immunised with COVID-19 vaccines till
Monday in all eight districts of Rangpur division since February 7 last,” Dr.
Ali added.

Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and
Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu said
people should properly abide by the health directives to reduce the infection
rate to zero level.
