Three more test COVID-19 positive in Rangpur

RANGPUR, March 2, 2021 (BSS) – Three more people were tested for COVID-19 positive today raising the total number of infected patients to 15,847 in all eight districts of Rangpur division.

Health officials said the three new cases were reported after diagnosing 175 samples at the infection rate of 1.71 percent today in the division.

Among the three new patients, one hailing from Gaibandha district was reported positive after diagnosing 81 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

Meanwhile, two new patients were reported positive after diagnosing 94 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today.

“The two new patients include one each from Dinajpur and Thakurgaon districts,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain told BSS after completing the testing process tonight.

Talking to BSS, Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the number of COVID-19 patients rose to 15,847 as two new positive cases were reported from across the division today.

“The district-wise break up of total 15,847 patients stands at 4,045 in Rangpur, 795 in Panchagarh, 1,331 in Nilphamari, 966 in Lalmonirhat, 1,020 in Kurigram, 1,513 in Thakurgaon, 4,712 in Dinajpur and 1,464 in Gaibandha,” Dr. Siddiqui added.
