Vaccine recipients’ number cross 3 lakh in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, March 2, 2021 (BSS) – The total number of the coronavirus (COVID-
19) vaccine recipients has crossed the three lakh mark in all eight districts
of Rangpur division.

“The number of COVID-19 vaccine recipients rose to 3,03,092 with
vaccination of more 10,354 people in the division today,” Divisional Director
(Health) Dr. Md. Ahad Ali told the national news agency.

The 10,354 citizens, who were inoculated with the COVID-19 vaccines today
in the division, include 6,000 males and 3,354 females.

Of the vaccine recipients, 1,94,296 males and 1,08,796 females .

“The vaccine recipients of the division are leading normal life without
remarkable side effects though 68 of them experienced temporary effects for a
few minutes since February 7 last,” Dr. Ali said.

The district-wise break-up of total vaccine recipients stands at 59,823 in
Rangpur, 27,232 in Panchagarh, 40,360 in Nilphamari, 22,421 in Lalmonirhat,
26,635 in Kurigram, 32,915 in Thakurgaon, 65,320 in Dinajpur and 28,386 in
Gaibandha of the division.

“Since launching of the COVID-19 vaccination campaign from February 7 last,
citizens are rushing to the vaccination centres daily with a huge keenness to
take the vaccines across the division,” Dr. Ali added.

Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and
Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu
expressed satisfaction over the excellent management at government hospitals
for immunising citizens.

The vaccine recipient citizens are feeling no notable side effects since
launching of the COVID-19 vaccination campaign in Rangpur division where the
coronavirus infection rate continues to decline consistently during the last
more than two months.

“However, common people should properly abide by the health directives and
wear masks while remaining outside to bring down the COVID-19 infection rate
to the zero level in the division as elsewhere across the country,” Dr. Lyzu
added.
