Covid-19 cases cross 35,000 marks in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, March 2, 2021 (BSS) – The number of coronavirus (COVID-19) positive cases in the district crossed 34,000 marks as 109 new cases were diagnosed with the lethal virus after testing 1829 samples in seven COVID-19 laboratories in the last 24 hours.

“The total numbers of COVID-19 patients now stand at 35108 only in Chattogram district till today and the infection rate is 5.96 percent,” Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, civil surgeon of Chattogram, said today.

Among the newly detected patients, 99 are from Chattogram city and ten from different upazilas of the district, hospital sources said.

A total of 11,965 people were immunized with the COVID-19 vaccines in the city and district today. “Among the vaccine receivers, 7,165 were male and 4600 female,” Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, civil surgeon of Chattogram district, told BSS.

“All vaccine recipient people are leading normal life without remarkable side effects following immunization since February 7 last,” Dr. Rabbi said.

Among the total vaccinated people, 7552 in Chattogram city and 4213 in different upazilas of the district, hospital sources said.

The vaccination drive was conducted at 25 hospitals in the city and district. So far 293,078 people have been vaccinated till today in the district.

Among the total 35108 coronavirus infected persons, 27,567 are the residents of the port city and the rest 7541 are residents of different upazilas of the district.

Besides, the total number of recovered patients from coronavirus rose to 32,250 in the district with the healing of 69 more people in the last 24 hours and the percentage of recovery rate stands at 91.88, Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi said.

The death toll from the virus rose to 375 with no fatalities reported afresh in the last 24 hours. Among the reported afresh fatalities 274 were the residents of the port city and the rest 101 were the residents of different upazilas of the district

Besides, 982 patients are undergoing treatment at isolation units of different hospitals in the port city.
