Stocks rebound on both bourses

DHAKA, March 1, 2021 (BSS) – After witnessing a downward trend in the last
two consecutive sessions, stocks today rebounded in the Dhaka and Chittagong
stock exchanges as investors remained active on sector-wise issues.

DSEX, the key index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went up by 22.02
points or 0.41 per cent to settle at 5,426.82. Two other indices also edged
higher. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, advanced 12.56 points to
finish at 2,069.40 and the DSE Shariah Index gained 6.23 points to close at
1,229.08.

Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, stood at Taka 6180.040
million, which was Taka 6606.427 million at the previous session of the week.

Gainers took a modest lead over the losers as out of 352 issues traded,
129 ended higher, 105 closed lower and 118 issues remained unchanged on the
DSE trading floor.

BEXIMCO continued to dominate the turnover, followed by BATBC, Robi, Lanka
Bangla Finance and GBB Power.

EGEN was the day’s best performer, posting a gain of 9.96 per cent while
Unilever CL was the worst loser, losing 7.75 per cent.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange also ended higher with its All Shares Price
Index (CASPI)– gaining 83.22 points to close at 15,687.03– while the
Selective Categories Index (CSCX) rising 49.40 points to close at 9,460.15.

Of the issues traded, 97 advanced, 57 declined and 72 remained unchanged
on the CSE.

The port city bourse traded 1.28 crore shares and mutual fund units with a
turnover value of Taka 35.79 crore.
