Two more reported COVID-19 positive in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, Feb 28, 2021 (BSS) – Two more people were tested positive for
COVID-19 today raising the total number of coronavirus infected patients to
15,841 in all eight districts of Rangpur division.

Health officials said the two new cases were reported after diagnosing 156
samples at the daily infection rate of 1.28 percent today in the division
where the infection rate continues declining and COVID-19 vaccination
campaign continues smoothly.

All of the two new patients diagnosed today, were reported positive after
diagnosing 94 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College
(RpMC) in Rangpur city.

“The two new patients include one each from Rangpur and Gaibandha
districts,” Chief of the Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task
Force and Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi
Lyzu told BSS tonight.

Meanwhile, none was reported positive after diagnosing 62 samples at the
COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur
today.

Talking to BSS, Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health)
for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the number of COVID-19 patients
rose to 15,841 as two new positive cases were reported from across the
division today.

“The district-wise break up of total 15,841 patients stands at 4,045 in
Rangpur, 794 in Panchagarh, 1,331 in Nilphamari, 965 in Lalmonirhat, 1,020 in
Kurigram, 1,512 in Thakurgaon, 4,711 in Dinajpur and 1,463 in Gaibandha,” Dr.
Siddiqui added.
