Comrade Tajul Islam’s 37th death anniversary tomorrow

DHAKA, Feb 28, 2021 (BSS) – The 37th death anniversary of Comrade Tajul
Islam, former Bangladesh Chhatra Union leader and a shifting worker at the
Adamjee Jute Mills, will be observed in the country in a befitting manner
tomorrow.

He was killed on March 1, 1984 when police opened fire on a procession
brought out by Sramik Karmachari Oikya Parishad (Skop) to realise the five-
point demand of the then 11 workers’ organisation.

The Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) every year observes the day as
Shaheed Tajul Dibos.

Marking the day, the CPB will pay homage to Tajul by placing wreath at the
altar of the temporary Shaheed Minar set up in front of the party’s central
office Mukti Bhaban in the city’s Purana Paltan area, said a press release
here today.

Different political parties, social and professional organizations and
dignitaries will also pay homage by placing wreaths at the altar of the
temporary Shaheed Minar between 10am to 11am.

Marking the day, CPB President Comrade Mujahidul Islam Selim and General
Secretary Comrade Md Shah Alam jointly issued a statement today, paying rich
tributes to Tajul Islam.
