Justice Mirza Hussain Haider goes into retirement

DHAKA, Feb 28, 2021 (BSS) – Justice Mirza Hussain Haider of Supreme Court
went into retirement today, leaving the total number of judges at the
Appellate Division to six.

Justice Haider went into the retirement as per article 96 (1) of the
Constitution as he would turn 67 tomorrow.

Attorney General AM Amin Uddin and Supreme Court Bar Association General
Secretary Ruhul Quddus Kazal accorded farewell virtually to Justice Mirza
Hussain Haider and appreciated his outstanding performance as a judge.

Born on March 1, 1954, Justice Mirza Hussain Haider obtained LLB (Hons)
and LLM from the University of Dhaka. He enrolled as an Advocate of the
District Court, the High Court Division and the Appellate Division of
Bangladesh Supreme Court in the Year 1979, 1981 and 1999 respectively.

Justice Haider was elevated as Additional Judge of the High Court Division
on July 3, 2001 and appointed judge of the same division under Article 95 of
the Constitution on July 3, 2003. He was elevated to the Appellate Division
of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh on February 8, 2016.

Justice Mirza Hussain Haider participated in international conferences,
symposium, training programmes held in India, South Korea, Kolkata, and
Philippines.

He visited Australia, Bahrain, Bhutan, China, France, India, Malaysia,
Nepal, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand,
United Kingdom, United States of America and Uzbekistan.
