24,250 recover from Covid-19 in Rajshahi division

RAJSHAHI, Feb 28, 2021 (BSS) – With the recovery of 64 more patients on
Saturday, the total number of cured patients from coronavirus (Covid-19)
infection reached 24,250 in the division, said an official report.

A total of 2,987 infected patients are now undergoing treatment at
designated hospitals here, it added.

Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder, divisional director of health, said the death
toll from the virus rose to 396, including 250 in Bogura and 55 in Rajshahi,
with no fatality reported for the fifth consecutive day today.

Besides, all the positive cases for COVID-19 have, so far, been brought
under necessary treatment while 6,563 were kept in isolation units of
different hospitals for institutional supervision. Of them, 5,934 have
already been released.

Meanwhile, with the detection of eight new positive cases in five districts
here on Saturday, one of the ever-lowest in daily infection like the previous
couple of weeks, the total number of infected patients rose to 25,640, Dr
Habibul said.

Of the new positive cases, the highest four were detected in Bogura,
followed by one each in Rajshahi city, Naogaon, Natore and Pabna districts.

With the newly detected cases, the district-wise break-up of the COVID-19
patients now stand at 6,061 in Rajshahi including 4,566 in its city, 824 in
Chapainawabganj, 1,639 in Naogaon, 1,245 in Natore, 1,364 in Joypurhat,
10,009 in Bogura, 2,780 in Sirajganj and 1,718 in Pabna.

On the other hand, 22 more persons have been sent to home and
institutional quarantine afresh while 23 others were released in the division
over the last 24 hours till 8 am today.

A total of 66,008 people have, so far, been kept under quarantine since
March 10 last year to prevent community transmission of the coronavirus
(COVID-19).

Of them, 65,070 have, by now, been released as they were given clearance
certificates after completing their respective 14-day quarantine period.
