Two killed, 9 injured in Cox’s Bazar road accident
COX’S BAZAR, Feb 27, 2021 (BSS) – Two people were killed and nine others injured in a road accident on the Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar highway in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a microbus in Islam Nagar Station area under Chakaria upazila of the district this morning.
The dead were microbus driver Enamul Haque, 22, son of Mohammad Hossain resident of Dulahazara Union and Abu Taleb, 40, son of Chand Mia resident of Shilkhali union in Pekua upazila.
Police and eyewitnesses said the accident occurred when a microbus boarding with passengers bound for Chittagong from Chakaria reached Islamnagar area and collided head-on with a Cox’s Bazar-bound ENA Paribahan bus from opposite direction around 6.45am, leaving two persons dead on the spot and wounding 9 others.
The injured were admitted to local hospitals, police said. Police also seized the vehicles.
Meanwhile, two motorcyclists were killed when a pickup hit them on the Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar highway in Baniyarchhara Amtalia Para area of Chakaria upazila of the district around 7 pm on Friday.
The dead were Md. Chhotan, 22, and Shamsul Alam, 20.
