Humayun urges BCIC to set schedule for annual procurement activities
DHAKA, Feb 24, 2021 (BSS) – Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun today said the annual procurement planning activities of the companies under Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) should be completed as soon as possible.
The tender process has also to be completed within the stipulated time, he added.
The industries minister said this while speaking as chief guest at a meeting of the ministry’s conference room on the existing problems of BCIC’s affiliated institutions, including uninterrupted production, proper management and review of annual procurement plans to make it profitable, said an official handout.
Chaired by industries secretary KM Ali Azam, state minister for Industries Kamal Ahmed Majumder attended the meeting as special guest.
During the meeting, BCIC Chairman Ehsan Elahi presented the annual procurement plan activities including the overall progress of the ongoing fertilizer factories, cement companies and paper mills under BCIC.
The state minister said there could be no delay in uninterrupted production and sound management in other factories, including the fertilizer plant under BCIC.
Everyone should be careful so that no mismanagement is happened in the supply of fertilizers, he added.
The Industries Secretary said that in order to bring back the old tradition of BCIC, the organization needs to be profitable and the cost of production of fertilizers has to be reduced.
He sought the cooperation of BCIC officials and employees in this regard.
