Dr Atiur’s book on Bangabandhu, Rabindranath unveiled

DHAKA, Feb 23, 2021 (BSS) – A book titled “Ore Mon Hobei Hobe:
Bangabandhu, Rabindranath and Samakalin Bangladesh” written by former
governor of Bangladesh Bank Dr Atiur Rahman was unveiled at a function in the
city today.

State Minister for Religious Affairs Md Faridul Haque Khan addressed the
book launching ceremony as the chief guest at the office of non government
research organisation ‘Unnayan Shamannay’ in the city, said a press release.

Writer of the book Dr Atiur Rahman, eminent sociologist Khondoker Shakhawat
Ali, consultant for Bangla Prokash Rahim Shah and Director of Sonali Bank
Ishtiaque Chowdhury were present at the function, among others.

Addressing the function, Faridul Haque said Dr Atiur Rahaman had worked
hard to ensure quality financial services for the marginal people when he was
the governor of Bangladesh Bank.

“Now he pays his concentration to researches which help us better
understanding the development of Bangladesh as well as the strategies to cope
with the challenges ahead,” he added.

Dr Atiur Rahman always remains aware of the socio-economic realities,
which help him portray the ways forward through his writings easily, the
state minister said, adding therefore his (Dr Atiur’s) policy prescriptions
are most often reflected in the national policies.

Dr Atiur Rahman said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is leading the amazing
macroeconomic journey of Bangladesh in alignment with Father of the Nation
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s development philosophy.

He dedicated his book to one of his classmates at intermediate level
Khurshid Ali, who laid down his life fighting against the Pakistani
occupation forces during the country’s Liberation War in 1971.
