DHAKA, Feb 23, 2021 (BSS) – The High Court (HC) today ordered authorities concerned to arrest a person, accused in four separate human trafficking cases, and produce him before Sylhet Chief Judicial Magistrate Court.

A High Court division virtual bench of Justice Md Moinul Islam Chowdhury and Justice AKM Zahirul Huq passed the order, scrapping pleas of accused Motiur Rahman for anticipatory bail in the cases.

Advocate Md Shafiullah Haider argued for the bail of the accused, while Assistant Attorney General Tamanna Ferdous vehemently opposed the petition from the state.

“Four cases under the Prevention and Suppression of Human Trafficking Act were filed against him in Sylhet on December 1, 2019. There are precise and serious allegations against him. He was on run for long and pleaded for anticipatory bail today,” Assistant Attorney General Tamanna Ferdous said.

The court in its order asked Shahbagh Police Station authorities to take the accused in their custody and produce him before Sylhet Chief Judicial Magistrate Court. The court also ordered Supreme Court Registrar General to coordinate the execution of the order.
