200 gold bars seized at Ctg airport

CHATTOGRAM, Feb 22, 2021 (BSS)- Customs officials today seized 200 gold
bars, weighing about 17.4 kilograms, from a flight of Biman Bangladesh
Airlines at Shah Amanat International Airport in the city.

Nurunnahar Laily, assistant commissioner of Customs Intelligent and
Investigation Directorate (CIID), said, acting on a tip-off, a team of the
CIID and National Security Intelligence (NSI) conducted a joint drive at BG-
128 flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines which came from Abu Dhabi this
morning.

“The customs authority recovered the gold bars after searching the back
air-conditioning panel above the passenger’s seat of the said flight,” she
said, adding that no arrests have, so far, been made in this regard but an
investigation is under way.
