BUP observes ‘Amar Ekushey and Int’l Mother Language Day’

DHAKA, Feb 21, 2021 (BSS) – Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP)
observed the “Amar Ekushey and International Mother Language Day” and paid
rich tribute to the martyrs of the language movement today.

To mark the day, a delegation of BUP brought out a procession and gathered
at the Central Shaheed Minar to place floral wreaths.

This year, the ceremony was held at limited scale due to the global
pandemic situation.

A virtual discussion was held on the contribution of martyr’s during the
language movement by the initiative of BUP Literature and Drama Club run by
the Department of English.

BUP Vice-Chancellor (VC) Major General Md Moshfequr Rahman attended the
discussion as the chief guest.

He said Bengali language is the country’s existence, tradition and the
identity of the nation. “The language movement is the first step of our
liberation struggle… Actually, this movement is the beginning to formation
of a separate nation,” he added.

Among others, BUP Pro-VC Professor M Abul Kashem Mozumder, high officials,
faculty members, officers and students also joined the virtual programme.
