31,641 patients recover from coronavirus in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, Feb 19, 2021 (BSS)- The total number of recovered patients
from coronavirus rose to 31,641 in the district with the healing of 36 more
people in the last 24 hours.

The total recovery rate of the patients has, so far, been 92.32 percent in
the district, Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, civil surgeon of Chattogram, said.

“The recovered patients were discharged from different home isolations and
Dedicated Corona Isolation Hospitals of the district as two consecutives
real-time PCR tests were found negative,” he told BSS today adding that the
number of coronavirus (COVID-19) positive cases reached at 34,272 amid the
frequent rising trend of the deadly virus.

Meanwhile, a total of 87 people were detected positive for coronavirus in
the last 24 hours after testing 1,925 samples at six COVID-19 laboratories in
the district while the infection rate is 4.52 percent.

Among the newly detected patients, 72 are from Chattogram city and 15 from
different upazilas of the district, hospital sources said.

Among the total 34,272 coronavirus infected people, 26,836 are the
residents of the port city and the rest 7,436 are the inhabitants of
different upazilas of the district.

A total of 929 infected patients were also undergoing treatment in
designated hospitals in the port city, the sources added.

The death toll from the virus rose to 370 with no fatalities reported
afresh in the last 23 days, the health official continued.

Among the reported fatalities, 269 were the residents of the port city and
the rest 101 were from different upazilas of the district.

Dr Rabbi mentioned that the persons, who came in contact with COVID-19
patients, were identified and they were asked to remain in home isolation so
that the virus cannot spread further.
