Three more test COVID-19 positive in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, Feb 18, 2021 (BSS) – Three more people were tested for COVID-19 positive today raising the total number of coronavirus infected patients to 15,815 in all eight districts of Rangpur division.

Health officials said the three new cases were reported today after diagnosing 150 samples at the daily infection rate of two percent in the division.

Earlier, the daily COVID-19 infection rates were 1.64 percent on Wednesday, 2.45 percent on Tuesday, 1.63 percent on Monday, 1.82 percent on Sunday, 2.99 percent on Saturday and 2.22 percent on Friday last in the division.

Among the three new patients diagnosed today, two were reported positive after diagnosing 79 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

“The two new patents including one each from Rangpur and Gaibandha districts,” Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu said.

Meanwhile, one new patient was reported after diagnosing 71 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today.

“The only new patient is hailing from Thakurgaon district,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain told BSS after completing the testing process tonight.

Talking to BSS, Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the number of COVID-19 patients rose to 15,815 as three new positive cases were reported from across the division today.

“The district-wise break up of the total 15,815 patients stands at 4,035 in Rangpur, 791 in Panchagarh, 1,328 in Nilphamari, 964 in Lalmonirhat, 1,019 in Kurigram, 1,511 in Thakurgaon, 4,709 in Dinajpur and 1,459 in Gaibandha districts,” Dr. Siddiqui said.
