DHAKA, Feb 18, 2021 (BSS) – The government has made national flag hoisting
at all public and private buildings in the country and its diplomatic
missions abroad compulsory on the historic 7 March from this year.

The decision was taken after making necessary amendment to the National
Flag Rules, 1972.

The cabinet division on February 15 issued a gazette notification saying
that the National Flag Rules, 1972 has been amended as per the Article 5 of
the Bangladesh National Anthem, Flag and Emblem Order, 1972.

The historic March 7 bears great significance in the life of the Bengalees,
as Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had delivered his
landmark speech on March 7 in 1971 at Suhrawardy Udyan in the city, ahead of
declaring the country’s independence.

Previously, the hoisting of the national flag was obligatory on Eid-e-
Miladunnabi, Independence Day, Victory Day and any other day as notified by
the government.
