More 25,579 take COVID-19 vaccines in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, Feb 18, 2021 (BSS) – More 25,579 citizens were immunised with
the COVID-19 vaccines today at government hospitals raising the total number
of vaccine recipients to 1,72,787 in all eight districts of Rangpur division.

“The 25,579 citizens who were inoculated with the COVID-19 vaccines today
in the division include 16,067 males and 9,512 females,” Divisional Director
(Health) Dr. Md. Ahad Ali told BSS here this evening.

The total 1,72,787 citizens immunised so far with COVID-19 vaccines in
the division include 1,15,568 males and 57,219 females.

“All vaccine recipient people are leading normal life without remarkable
side effects though 62 of them experienced insignificant temporary adverse
events for a few minutes following immunisation since February 7 last,” Dr.
Ali said.

The district-wise break-up of total 1,72,787 vaccine recipients now
stands at 32,135 in Rangpur, 17,161 in Panchagarh, 23,290 in Nilphamari,
11,733 in Lalmonirhat, 15,644 in Kurigram, 18,781 in Thakurgaon, 37,453 in
Dinajpur and 16,590 in Gaibandha.

“Increasing number of citizens rushing to the vaccination centres at
government hospitals with huge eagerness is taking the COVID-19 vaccines in a
festive atmosphere in Rangpur division,” Dr. Ali added.

Talking to BSS, a number of high profile front-liners who took the
COVID-19 vaccines on the launching day of the vaccination campaign at Rangpur
Medical College Hospital (RpMCH) on February 7 last, said they felt no
remarkable side effects so far.

Mayor of Rangpur Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa first took the vaccine at
RpMCH on February 7 last followed by Principal of Rangpur Medical College
(RpMC) Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu and Civil Surgeon of Rangpur Dr.
Herambo Kumar Roy.

Like other vaccine recipients on February 7 last, Mayor Mostafa told BSS
that he took the vaccine first to inspire common people in taking the
vaccines safely with full confidence.

Superintendent of Rangpur Dedicated Corona Isolation Hospital Dr. SM
Nurun Nabi took the COVID-19 vaccine along with his other colleagues at
Rangpur Sadar Upazila Health Complex on February 9 last.

“Like my colleagues, I did not experience notable side effects,” Dr.
Nabi told BSS today and called upon everyone to take the COVID-19 vaccines
safely.

Chairman of Rangpur Sadar upazila parishad Nasima Zaman Boby said she
took the vaccine at RpMCH on February 15 last along with her husband Sirajul
Islam Pramanik who is President of Rangpur district unit of Swechchasebak
League.

“Like my husband, I felt no side effects since taking the COVID-19
vaccines and we are feeling okay, working as usual and leading normal life,”
Boby said, and suggested everyone to take the vaccine without hesitation.

The vaccine recipient citizens appreciated excellent management at the
government hospitals for immunising registered citizens in a completely
hassle-free manner in a festive atmosphere.

Later, Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force
and Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu expressed happiness
over the satisfaction of citizens while taking vaccines at government
hospitals in Rangpur division.

He also called upon common people to abide by the health directives even
after taking the vaccines to bring down the COVID-19 infection rate to the
zero level and ultimately free the country from the deadly virus.
