Sweets distributed in Kotalipara as HC upholds verdict
GOPALGANJ, Feb 17, 2021 (BSS) – Sweets were distributed among common people in Kotalipara town as High Court today upheld the death sentence for 10 convicts in a case over attempt to kill Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina trough planting a 76-kg bomb in Kotalipara in 2000.
Upazila unit Awami League organized a jubilant rally that paraded different streets in the town on the occasion of the verdict of HC.
The rally kicked off Upazila Parishad premises and culminated at AL office.
Kotalipara Upazila AL President Bhabendronath Biswas, General Secretary Aynal Hossain Sheikh, Municipality Mayor Md Kamal Hossain Sheikh, Sechha Sebok League leader Bablu Hajra and Jubo League leader Bulbul Ahmed Hajra spoke among others in the rally.
They demanded immediate execution of the verdicts.
On July 20 in 2000, police found a 76-kilogram bomb in a college field at Kotalipara where Sheikh Hasina was scheduled to address an election campaign rally.
