Only 2 more reported COVID-19 positive in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, Feb 17, 2021 (BSS) – Only two more people were tested for
COVID-19 positive today raising the total number of coronavirus infected
patients to 15,812 in all eight districts of Rangpur division.

Health officials said the five new cases were reported today after
diagnosing 183 samples at the daily infection rate of 1.09 percent in the
division where the vaccination campaign continues smoothly amid declining
infection rate.

Earlier, the daily COVID-19 infection rates were 2.45 percent on
Tuesday, 1.63 percent on Monday, 1.82 percent on Sunday, 2.99 percent on
Saturday, 2.22 percent on Friday, 1.86 percent on Thursday and 1.77 percent
on Wednesday last in the division.

Among the two new patients diagnosed today, none was reported positive
after diagnosing 94 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical
College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

Meanwhile, two new patients were reported after diagnosing 89 samples at
the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur
today.

“The two new patients are hailing from different areas of Dinajpur
district,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain told BSS after
completing the testing process tonight.

Talking to BSS, Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health)
for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the number of COVID-19 patients
rose to 15,812 as two new positive cases were reported from across the
division today.

“The district-wise break up of the total 15,812 patients stands at 4,034
in Rangpur, 790 in Panchagarh, 1,328 in Nilphamari, 964 in Lalmonirhat, 1,019
in Kurigram, 1,510 in Thakurgaon, 4,709 in Dinajpur and 1,458 in Gaibandha
districts,” Dr. Siddiqui said.
