Five more reported COVID-19 positive in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, Feb 16, 2021 (BSS) – Five more people were tested for COVID-19 positive today raising the total number of corona virus infected patients to 15,806 in all eight districts of Rangpur division.

Health officials said the five new cases were reported today after diagnosing 163 samples at the daily infection rate of 3.07 percent in the division where the vaccination campaign continues smoothly amid declining infection rate.

Earlier, the daily COVID-19 infection rates were 1.63 percent on Monday, 1.82 percent on Sunday, 2.99 percent on Saturday, 2.22 percent on Friday, 1.86 percent on Thursday and 1.77 percent on Wednesday last in the division.

Among the five new patients diagnosed today, none was reported positive after diagnosing 69 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

Meanwhile, five new patients were reported after diagnosing 94 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today.

“The five new patients include three from Dinajpur and one each from Nilphamari and Thakurgaon districts,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain told BSS after completing the testing process today.

Talking to BSS, Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the number of COVID-19 patients rose to 15,811 as five new positive cases were reported from across the division today.

“The district-wise break up of the total 15,811 patients stands at 4,034 in Rangpur, 790 in Panchagarh, 1,328 in Nilphamari, 964 in Lalmonirhat, 1,019 in Kurigram, 1,510 in Thakurgaon, 4,708 in Dinajpur and 1,458 in Gaibandha districts,” Dr. Siddiqui said.
