CHATTOGRAM, Feb 16, 2021 (BSS) – A youth drowned after a passenger boat
sank into Karnaphuli River beside 12 no ghat under Patenga thana in the city
this morning.
The deceased was identified as Saikat Barua, 28, son of Prashanto Barua,
hailing from south Shah Mirpur village under Karnafuli upazila of the
district.
He got on the boat as usual like every day to go to his work place in the
port city around 9.40 am today.
Jahirul Islam, in-charge of Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH)
police outpost, told BSS that locals brought three injured people at CMCH
after rescuing them from a reportedly sinking boat at Ghat No. 12 in
Karnafuli river around 10.35 am today.
The attending doctors of the hospital declared Saikat Barua dead after
admission.
The rest two people are undergoing treatment at the hospital but their
condition is not critical.
