Beat policing can play pioneer role in checking crimes: speakers

GAIBANDHA, Feb 16, 2021 (BSS) – Speakers at a function here said beat
policing could play a pioneer role in maintaining law and order situation and
checking social crimes.

They made the observations while addressing a beat policing gathering on
the ground of Char Chowmohon Govt. Primary School of Fulchhari upazila in the
district on Monday.

Beat policing committee of Erendabari union of the upazila arranged the
function in cooperation with Inclusive Citizenship Sector of Friendship, a
leading non- government organization of the country.

Superintendent of police (SP) Muhammad Towhidul Islam attended the function
as the chief guest.

Presided over by local union parishad chairman Md. Azizur Rahman, the
function was also addressed, among others, by additional SP (headquarters)
Abu Khayer, officer-in-charge of Fulchhari Thana Md. Kawsar Ali, regional
coordinator of Inclusive Citizenship Sector of Friendship Zahid Anwar.

The speakers underlined the need for bolstering the relation between the
police and common people and for exploring the opportunities of beat policing
for sustainable peace everywhere in the society.

The SP sought all-out support of the communities to halt social curse
including rape and repression against women.

Highlighting the importance of freeing the women and children from all
sorts of violence and repression, he called for a concerted effort of all
government and non-government entities concerned to curb the violence.
