Let new generation know Liberation War’s real history: PM

DHAKA, Feb 15, 2021 (BSS)-Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today asked all
concerned to put forth the real history of the Liberation War before the new
generations.

“History can’t be erased. The actual history of the Liberation War will
have to be placed before the new generations,” she said.

She asked the concerned authorities to preserve the graveyards of freedom
fighters and build memorial museums as the generation after generation can
know the true history of the Liberation War.

The prime minister said this while giving an introductory speech virtually
in the 66th trustee board meeting of the Freedom Fighters Welfare Trust
(FFWT) from her official Ganabhaban residence in the capital.

Remaining other members of the trustee board got connected to it from the
Osmani Smriti Auditorium here through video conferencing.

PM’s Deputy Press Secretary KM Shakhawat Moon briefed the media after the
meeting.

The prime minister asked the trustee board members to identify the
insolvent freedom fighters and their family members and stand beside them.

In this connection, she said that her government will build home for each
of the insolvent freedom fighter and their family.

Sheikh Hasina, also chairman of the trustee board, asked to inquire about
the fake freedom fighters as many Razakar, Al-Badr and Al-Shams members had
become freedom fighter immediately after the Liberation War.

The premier also asked all concerned to speed up the activities of the
trustee board and stressed the need for holding regular meetings.

She said that Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had
formed the trust for the welfare of the country’s best ever sons.

At the outset of the meeting, the prime minister recalled with due respect
Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman under whose leadership
the country was liberated, the four national leaders, martyred freedom
fighters, and others who made supreme sacrifice in all the democratic and
progressive movements.

Among others, the trustee board members, Liberation War Affairs Minister
AKM Mozammel Haque, Awami League Presidium Member Shajahan Khan, Mostafizur
Rahman Fizar and Liberation War Affairs Ministry Secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh,
were present.

Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) secretary Md Tofazzel Hossain Miah moderated
the meeting from the Ganabhaban end.
