West Indies reaches 98-6 at lunch after Bonner, Da Silva resist Bangladesh

DHAKA, Feb 14, 2021 (BSS)-Bangladesh hit back nicely before Nkrumah
Bonner and Joshua Da Silva resisted them to help West Indies reach 98-6 at
lunch on day four of the second cricket Test at Sher-e-Bangla National
Cricket Stadium here today.

Thanks to their resistance, West Indies’ lead grew to 211 till the first
interval of the day.

At the break, Bonner was batting on 30 and Da Silva was on 20 on a tricky
pitch. Bangladesh sensed a chance to bowl out West Indies early to deny them
set a fourth innings target anything over 250 when they reduced the visitors
to 73-6.

Pacer Abu Jayed Rahi struck twice in the morning session, after the
visitors resumed on 41-3. He trapped nightwatchman Jomel Warrican lbw for 2
before dismissing first Test’s double centurion Kyle Mayers for 6.

Mayers after his epic 210 not out, scored 5 and 6 in two innings of the
second test.

Left arm spinner Taijul Islam then removed Jermaine Blackwood for 9,
stumped by Liton Das before West Indies established its full control on the
match.

But Bonner and Da Silva who put on a118-run partnership in the first
innings to help West Indies score 409 in its first innings again seemed to
play the key role. They batted sensibly to frustrate Bangladesh and
eventually see out the session.

Bangladesh was bowled out for 296 in its first innings to conceded 113-
run lead.
