Khalid for maintaining transparency in implementing project works
SYLHET, Feb 13, 2021 (BSS) – State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud
Chowdhury, MP, today said the government is maintaining transparency while
implementing development works.
“The present government’s zero-tolerance policy against corruption is
helping the country to complete all development projects successfully,” he
said.
The state minister was speaking as chief guest at the foundation stone
laying ceremony of ‘Development of Sheola Land Port’ at Konagram border of
Dubag union in Beanibazar upazila of the district.
Chairman of Bangladesh Land Port Authority KM Tariqul Islam, Additional
Customs Commissioner Rashedul Hasan, Deputy Commissioner of Sylhet M Kazi
Emdadul Islam, UNO Moushumi Mahbub and Additional Superintendent of Police
(Zakiganj Circle), among others, addressed the programme.
To boost import-export activities, Sheola customs station was declared as
land port on June 30, 2015.
The Development activity of Sheola Land Port is being undertaken under
Bangladesh Regional Connectivity Project-1 with the joint funding of the
World Bank and the government of Bangladesh.
A total of Taka 124 crore have been allocated to convert Sheola customs
station into a complete land port. Bangladesh land port authority under
Shipping Ministry is implementing the project work.
