69,802 get COVID-19 vaccines in Rangpur
RANGPUR, Feb 13, 2021 (BSS) – The total number of COVID-19 vaccine recipients now rose to 69,802 with inoculation of 17,542 more people today at government hospitals in Rangpur division.
“The 17,542 COVID-19 vaccine recipients on Saturday include 11,669 males and 5,873 females,” Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Md. Ahad Ali told BSS here this evening.
A total of 69,802 citizens got shots of COVID-19 vaccines in all eight districts of the division including 50,004 males and 19,798 females and all of them are feeling okay without any noticeable side effects.
Of the total, 17,542 citizens were administered with the COVID-19 vaccines on Saturday (today) 19,380 on Thursday, 14,224 on Wednesday, 10,237 on Tuesday, 5,503 on Monday and 2,912 citizens on Sunday last in the division.
“Till to date, 57 vaccine recipients experienced negligible temporary Adverse Events Following Immunization (AEFI) since February 7 last in the division and all of them started feeling alright within a few minutes,” Dr. Ali said.
The district-wise break-up of total 69,802 vaccine recipients stands at 15,553 in Rangpur, 7,760 in Panchagarh, 8,820 in Nilphamari, 4,739 in Lalmonirhat, 5,836 in Kurigram, 8,213 in Thakurgaon, 14,680 in Dinajpur and 6,201 in Gaibandha of the division.
“Common people are now showing their enormous keenness in taking the COVID-19 vaccines in all eight districts of Rangpur division,” Dr. Ali added.
Talking to BSS, senior journalist of Panchagarh Shahidul Islam Shahid said he took the vaccine on February 7 and his wife Mamtaz Begum took the same on February 10 at Panchagarh Modernised Sadar Hospital.
“We felt tiny side effects after taking the COVID-19 vaccines only for a few minutes and are feeling all right now without any problem,” Shahid said, and urged everyone to take the vaccine safely without any hesitation to make the country safe and sound.
Like other physicians, retired teacher of Rangpur Medical College Dr. Hamidul Islam with his wife took the COVID-19 vaccines a couple of days back at Rangpur Medical College Hospital in Rangpur city.
“We did not experience any side effects so far,” Dr. Islam said, and called upon everyone to register them using the ‘surokkha’ app and take the COVID-19 vaccines free of costs to ultimately free the country from the deadly virus.
Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu said people are showing keen interest in taking the vaccines in a festive mood.
The COVID-19 infection continues declining and the recovery rate rising consistently during the last two months in Rangpur division where 15,103 patients among the total 15,794 infected people have already recovered.
“Common people should abide by the health directives to prevent further spread of the virus despite smooth progress of the COVID-19 vaccination campaign amid declining infection rate in the division,” Dr. Lyzu added.
