Boro transplantation work nears completion in Panchagarh

PANCHAGARH, Feb 13, 2021 (BSS) – Boro paddy transplantation work nears
completion in the district with the hope of bumper production.

The farmers are now busy in nurturing the paddy fields with much
enthusiasm.

The favourable climate condition and adequate supply of high quality seed
increase hope of getting bumper production.

The Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) official sources said
30,125 hectares of land have been brought under Boro cultivation in all five
upazilas with the production target of 1,33,750 tonnes this season.

DAE deputy director Md Mizanur Rahman told BSS that Boro transplantation
on 90 percent of targeted lands have been completed and the rest would be
accomplished within one week.

The Bangladesh Agriculture Development Corporation (BADC) distributed high
quality Boro seed to the farmers of the district.

The department has distributed Boro seed, fertilizers and other
agriculture inputs among 200 farmers at free of cost to make the cultivation
programme a success.

Different commercial banks including Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan bank also has
been distributing easy term loan to the farmers.

The DAE has given training on modern technology to the farmers for
boosting Boro production
