Light to moderate rain likely over country

DHAKA, July 14, 2018 (BSS) – Light to moderate rain or thundershowers
accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind and lightning flashes are
likely to occur at some places across the country in the next 24 hours ending
at 9 am tomorrow.

“Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty
wind and lightning flashes are likely to occur at few places in Khulna,
Barishal, Chattogram, Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions,” said a Met
bulletin issued this morning.

A few places in Rajshahi and Dhaka divisions may see light to moderate
rain and moderately heavy falls in the next 24 hours commencing at 9 am
today, the bulletin said.

Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and strong over North Bay while
the monsoon axis runs through Rajsthan, Hariyana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya
Pradesh, Jharkhand, Odisha and northeastwards to Assam across Gangetic West
Bengal and southern part of Bangladesh.

A low has formed over North-West Bay and adjoining area and under its
influence steep pressure gradient persists over North Bay, the bulletin
added.

The maximum temperature was recorded 36.0 degrees Celsius yesterday at
Rangamati in Chattogram division while today’s minimum temperature 24.2
degrees Celsius at Srimangal in Sylhet division.

The highest rainfall in the last 24 hours as of 6 am today was recorded 56
mm at Srimangal in Sylhet division.

The sun sets at 6:49 pm today and rises at 5:20 am tomorrow in the
capital.

Meanwhile, another met office message said rain or thundershowers
accompanied by temporary South or South-Easterly gusty or squally wind speed
45-60 kph is likely to occur over the Regions of Dhaka, Faridpur, Khulna,
Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar.

River ports have been advised to be hoisted cautionary signal number one.
