Bonner, Da Silva guide West Indies 325-6 at lunch on day 2 against
Bangladesh

DHAKA, Feb 12, 2021 (BSS)-Wicket-keeper batsman Joshua Da Silva took the
onus to keep the side rolling after Nkrumah Bonner as West Indies put them
top over Bangladesh at lunch on day two of the second Test here today at
Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.

At the first break of the day, West Indies reached 325-6 with Da Silva
batting on 70 alongside Alzarri Joseph who was on 34 after playing an
attacking innings.

After resuming the day on 223-5, Bonner and Da Silva kept West Indies
steady with contrasting approach of caution and aggression.

Bonner looked solid like the first day while Da Silva cut fast bowler Abu
Jayed Rahi for boundary past backward point to begin his day.

Da Silva continued his aggressive approach to help the side tick the
scoreboard rapidly but off-spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz broke through against
the play as he dismissed Bonner, when he was 10 runs away from his maiden
century.

Bonner who started the day with 73, finally was out on 90 off 207, a fine
innings included seven boundaries.

Alzarri Joseph however had no intention to defend anything. He took
Bangladeshi bowlers in disdain right after coming to the crease and helped
West Indies to take the command.

Da Silva joined the party to make the bowlers disarray further before he
brought up his second Test fifty with a reverse-swept boundary against Miraz.

Joseph hits five fours and two sixes so far in his 48 ball-34.

Their aggressive approach helped West Indies score 102 runs in the first
session.

Abu Jayed Rahi and left arm spinner Taijul Islam claimed two wickets each
till the lunch session of day two.
