DHAKA, Feb 11, 2021 (BSS) – Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Shipping today recommended bringing country’s all vessels under online survey for their registration at the quickest possible time to ascertain the real number of vessels and to procure proper revenue.
The recommendation was extended at 28th meeting of the committee, with its president Major (retd) Rafiqul Islam, Bir Uttam, in the chair, an official release said.
State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, Shajahan Khan, Md Mojharul Haque Prodhan, Ranjit Kumar Roy, Dr Samil Uddin Ahmed Shimul, Md Aslam Hossain Sowdagar and SM Shahjada, attended the meeting.
Procedure of work area of Bangladesh Shipping Corporation (BSC) , Department of Shipping, their activities, development projects, audit objections, establishing a small hospital or trauma center at Bangladesh Marin Academy , among other prominently came up in the discussion.
The committee in the meeting recommended the ministry to ensure supply of fuel to Bangladeshi flag carrier BSC to strengthen country’s economy line with the policy “Making Bangladesh-use Bangladeshi Product”.
Secretary of the Shipping Ministry, concerned officials were present at the meeting.
