KHULNA, Feb 11, 2021 (BSS) – The by-election of Khulna City Corporation’s (KCC) women councilor (10th reserved seat) will be held on February 13 (Saturday).

“Voting will be held from 8 am to 4 pm and electronic voting machines (EVMs) will be used in the polls instead of traditional ballot boxes,” said returning officer and regional election officer MD Younus Ali.

Awami League (AL) nominated candidate Rokasana Kalam (Lili) with “Pineapple” symbol and Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) nominated candidate Rokeya Faruk with “Book” symbol are going to compete in the polls.

The total number of voters in the 10th reserved seat of KCC, comprising three words, is 65,150.

“I am hundred percent sure of winning in view of the way I am getting response from the voters and I think I will get more than 50 percent of the votes.” said Awami League nominated candidate Roksana Kalam (Lili).

Babul Rana, general secretary of Khulna city unit Awami League, said while taking part in the election campaign today, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has adopted a special plan for the development of Khulna.

He urged all to vote for the Awamil League nominated candidate to support the development of the ward.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) nominated candidate Rokeya Faruk said she is hopeful of winning if the election is held in a free, fair and impartial manner.

This seat fell vacant as its councilor Lutfunnesa passed away on November 5 last year.
