DHAKA, Feb 10, 2021 (BSS) – State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury today said Qatar-based Al Jazeera television is spreading propaganda against the development of Bangladesh.

“When the nation is celebrating the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the golden jubilee of the country’s independence, Al Jazeera channel is broadcasting misinformation on development of Bangladesh,” he said.

The state minister was addressing as chief guest at a discussion titled `Development of Bangladesh: Media and Its Contribution’ at Jatiya Press Club here.

Dhaka Sangbadik Forum (DSF) organized the discussion, presided over by its president Shameem Siddique.

The Deputy Minister of Education Barrister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel, Editor of Daily Observer Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, founder President of DSF Abdul Jalil Bhuyian, Dhaka Union of Journalists president Quddus Afrad, General Secretary Sajjad Alam Khan Tapu, Vice-President of DSF Halima Akhler Labanno and Organizing Secretary Masud Rana addressed the function, among others.

Khalid said BNP is trying to use Al Jazeera’s propaganda for their purpose but it’s not the way to do politics.

“Earlier, Al Jazeera did business by taking the interview of Bin Laden. The people of Bangladesh and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina are not afraid at all by these misinformation of Al Jazeera Television,” he added.
