RANGPUR, Feb 10, 2021 (BSS) – More 14,224 citizens were inoculated with the COVID-19 vaccines today at the booths set up in government hospitals in all eight districts of Rangpur division.
“The number of vaccine recipients in the first phase now stands at 32,876
in four days across the division since launching of the mass COVID-19
vaccination campaign on Sunday last,” Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Md.
Ahad Ali told BSS today.
The total 32,876 citizens immunised with COVID-19 vaccines in all eight
districts of the division till Wednesday include 24,763 males and 8,113
females.
Earlier, on the launching day of the vaccination campaign on Sunday, a
total of 2,912 citizens, including 2,278 males and 634 females, were
inoculated with COVID-19 vaccines across the division.
“Besides, a total of 5,503 citizens took the vaccines on the second on
Monday and 10,237 citizens on the third day on Tuesday in the division,” Dr.
Ali said.
Meanwhile, only 15 people experienced negligible temporary adverse events
following immunisation (AEFI) today, eight on Tuesday, 24 on Monday and none
on the inaugural day (Sunday) in the division.
“However, all of the vaccine recipients soon came out of temporary side
effects within a few minutes and all of them are feeling well without any
problem now,” he said.
The district-wise break-up of the total 32,876 vaccine recipients stands
at 7,120 in Rangpur, 4,343 in Panchagarh, 3,400 in Nilphamari, 2,056 in
Lalmonirhat, 2,676 in Kurigram, 3,946 in Thakurgaon, 6,897 in Dinajpur and
2,438 in Gaibandha of the division.
“Earlier, the Civil Surgeons of all eight districts in the division
received 50 cartoons of COVID-19 vaccines containing six lakh doses in the
first phase on January 31 last,” Dr. Ali said, and urged everyone to take the
vaccines safely.
Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and
Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu told
BSS that people are taking the vaccines with full confidence in a festive
atmosphere in the division.
