Physicians, staff get vaccines at Rangpur corona hospital

RANGPUR, Feb 10, 2021 (BSS) – The physicians, nurses and other staff
working at Dedicated Corona Isolation Hospital (DCIH) in Rangpur city are
very happy after being inoculated with the coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccines.

The DCIH, an extended health care facility of Rangpur Medical College
Hospital, has earned public confidence by providing quality health services
to patients attaining a high recovery rate of 91 percent since its
installation on April 19 last year.

Talking to BSS, DCIH Superintendent Dr. SM Nurun Nabi said the
physicians, nurses and other staff are now working with a reinforced
commitment, dedication and courage after getting COVID-19 vaccines on Tuesday
and today (Wednesday).

“The DCIH is providing health services to the admitted patients with a
current manpower capacity of 40, including 25 physicians, 11 nurses and four
other staff attaching special priority with utmost dedication,” he said.

Earlier, the DCIH had a comparatively better manpower capacity of 122,
including 32 physicians, 70 nurses and 20 other staff to provide health
services to the patients even on November 1 last year.

Among the current 40 employees, 28 of them, including 21 doctors and
seven other staff including senior staff nurses, were immunised with COVID-19
vaccines at Sadar Upazila Health Complex vaccination centre in the city in
the last two days.

“Along with my other colleagues, I took the COVID-19 vaccine on Tuesday
at Rangpur Sadar Upazila Health Complex in presence of Sadar Upazila Health
and Family Planning Officer Dr. Rabi Sankar Mandal,” Dr. Nabi said.

All of the 28 vaccine recipient physicians and other employees of the
DCIH are remaining completely normal without experiencing any adverse events
following immunisation (AEFI).

“I call upon everyone to get the COVID-19 vaccines without any
hesitation of fear in mind,” Dr. Nabi said, and suggested all citizens not to
pay attention to rumors and propaganda about the vaccines.

Similarly, physicians Dr. Md. Zainal Abedin Jewel, Dr. Rifat, Dr.
Morsed, Dr. Rasel, Dr. Shamim and senior staff nurses Laboni and Iasmin and
office assistant Md. Arman Hossain of the DCIH expressed happiness after
getting the COVID-19 vaccines.

Dr. Nabi said a total of 1,016 COVID-19 patients were admitted to the
DCIH since its installation on April 19 last year, of them, 20 critically
sick persons with multiple health complexities referred to Dhaka and two
others are now undergoing treatments.

“Among the rest of 994 under treatment patients, 906 were discharged
after healing at the recovery rate of 91 percent and 88 patients (mostly aged
between 65 and 85 years) died at the hospital with multiple complexities till
date,” Dr. Nabi added.

Talking to BSS, recovered patient Wazed Hossain, 55, of Kurigram said he
got exceptional treatments and health services from a group of dedicated
physicians, nurses and other staff at the DCIH in Rangpur.

“I was admitted to the DCIH on October 21 and discharged after recovery
on October 29 last year,” Hossain said.

Similarly, recovered patients Nazlar Rahman, 82, Dr. Saba Sabiha,
Nandika, 53, Kamalaskma, 24, Ranjeet Kumar, 50, Rabiul Sarder, 54, Mubarak
Hossain, 65, and Sathi Rani, 30, of different districts said they received
admirable treatments at the DCIH.

Talking to BSS today, Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Md. Ahad Ali said
the physicians, nurses and other staff at the DCIH have won the hearts of
admitted COVID-19 patients by providing modern quality treatments with utmost
dedication.
