More 10,237 get COVID-19 vaccine in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, Feb 9, 2021 (BSS) – More 10,237 citizens were inoculated with the COVID-19 vaccine today at the booths in all eight districts of Rangpur division amid a festive atmosphere.

“The number of vaccine recipients in the first phase now stands at 18,652 in three days across the division since Sunday last,” Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Md. Ahad Ali told BSS here tonight.

The total 18,652 citizens immunised with COVID-19 vaccines in the division include 14,369 males and 4,283 females.

On the launching day of the vaccination campaign on Sunday, a total of 2,912 citizens, including 2,278 males and 634 females, were inoculated with COVID-19 vaccines across the division.

“Besides, a total of 5,503 citizens, including 4,308 males and 1,195 females, took the vaccines on the second on Monday in the division,” Dr. Ali said.

Meanwhile, only eight people experienced negligible temporary adverse events today following immunisation (AEFI) and 24 others on Monday and none on the inaugural day (Sunday) in the division.

“However, all of the vaccine recipients soon came out of temporary side effects within a few minutes and all of them are feeling well,” he said, and urged everyone to take the vaccines safely without any hesitation.

The district-wise break-up of vaccine recipients now stands at 4,322 in Rangpur, 2,798 in Panchagarh, 1,860 in Nilphamari, 1,030 in Lalmonirhat, 1,513 in Kurigram, 2,252 in Thakurgaon, 3,630 in Dinajpur and 1,277 in Gaibandha districts of the division.

“Earlier, the Civil Surgeons of all eight districts in Rangpur division received a total of 50 cartoons of COVID-19 vaccines containing six lakh doses in the first phase on January 31 last,” Dr. Ali added.

Talking to BSS tonight, Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu said common people are taking the vaccines with full confidence in the division.
