Only two reported coronavirus positive in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, Feb 8, 2021 (BSS) – Only two more people were tested for coronavirus positive today in Rangpur division where the COVID-19 vaccination campaign continues since Sunday amid a declining infection rate in the last eight weeks..

Health officials said the two new cases were reported today after diagnosing 148 samples at the daily infection rate of about 1.35 percent.

The daily COVID-19 infection rates were 3.85 percent on Sunday, 0.86 percent on Saturday, 2.40 percent on Friday, 3.14 percent on Thursday, 1.89 percent on Wednesday and 1.60 percent on Tuesday last in the division.

Among the two new patients diagnosed today, only one hailing from Rangpur district was reported positive after diagnosing 75 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

Meanwhile, only one new patient hailing from Dinajpur district was reported after diagnosing 73 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today.

Talking to BSS tonight, Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the number of COVID-19 patients rose to 15,770 in the division as two new positive cases were reported today.

“The district-wise break up of the total 15,770 patients stands at 4,019 in Rangpur, 789 in Panchagarh, 1,326 in Nilphamari, 964 in Lalmonirhat, 1,012 in Kurigram, 1,506 in Thakurgaon, 4,696 in Dinajpur and 1,458 in Gaibandha districts,” Dr. Siddiqui added.
