COVID-19 vaccine inoculation doubled in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, Feb 8, 2021 (BSS) – The number of citizens inoculated with
coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccines almost doubled today against the number on
the launching day of the vaccination campaign on Sunday in Rangpur division.

“The number of vaccine recipients in the first phase stood at 5,503 today
against the number of 2,912 people inoculated on Sunday,” Divisional Director
(Health) Dr Md Ahad Ali told BSS here tonight.

The vaccine recipient 5,503 citizens of today include 4,308 males and
1,195 females in all eight districts of Rangpur division.

However, 2,912 citizens, including 2,278 males and 634 females, were
inoculated with COVID-19 vaccines across the division on Sunday.

“During the last two days, a total of 8,415 citizens, including 6,586
males and 1,829 females, were immunised in the division” Dr Ali said.

He said 24 people felt minor adverse events today following immunisation
(AEFI) with the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccines in Rangpur, Nilphamari, and
Lalmonirhat and Gaibandha districts of the division.

“However, there was no report of any AEFI among the vaccine recipients
anywhere in Rangpur division on Sunday,” he said.

The district-wise break-up of the vaccine recipients stands at 2,083 in
Rangpur, 1,004 in Panchagarh, 760 in Nilphamari, 495 in Lalmonirhat, 700 in
Kurigram, 923 in Thakurgaon, 1,846 in Dinajpur and 604 in Gaibandha districts
of the division.

“The Civil Surgeons of all eight districts in Rangpur division received 50
cartoons of COVID-19 vaccines containing six lakh doses in the first phase on
January 31 last,” Dr Ali said.

Talking to BSS, Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention
Task Force and Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr AKM
Nurunnobi Lyzu said people should take the vaccines with full confidence
without any panic.
