RMG worker dies after falling brick on head in city
DHAKA, Feb 8, 2021 (BSS) – A garment worker was killed today as a piece of brick fell on her head from an under-construction four-storey building at Mominbagh under Jatrabari Police Station here, police and hospital sources said.
The deceased was identified as Runa Akhter, 22, and she received fatal injuries when a brick fell from the rooftop of a building while she was passing through there on her way to a garment factory of Katarbari.
Mohammad Bachchu Mia, in-charge (inspector) of the police outpost at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), said after the incident, she was rushed to the emergency unit of the DMCH, where the doctor declared her at around 8.30 am.
A hospital source said the victim was an inhabitant of Indurkani upazila of Pirojpur district and at present she used to live with her husband Shaheen, a construction worker in West Mominbagh area of Konapara under Jatrabari police station.
She was a mother of eight-year old Riaj.
The body was kept on the DMCH morgue for autopsy. Legal action is underway in this connection.
