Five more test coronavirus positive in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, Feb 7, 2021 (BSS) – Five more people were tested for
COVID-19 positive today in Rangpur division where the COVID-19 vaccination campaign already began amid declining infection rate in recent weeks.

Health officials said the five new cases were reported today after diagnosing 156 samples at the daily infection rate of about 3.51 percent.

Earlier, the daily COVID-19 infection rates were 0.86 percent on Saturday, 2.40 percent on Friday, 3.14 percent on Thursday, 1.89 percent on Wednesday, 1.60 percent on Tuesday and 3.95 percent on Monday last in the division.

Among the five new patients diagnosed today, two were reported positive after diagnosing 62 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

“Both of the two new infected patients are hailing from Rangpur district,” Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu told BSS tonight.

Meanwhile, three new patients were reported after diagnosing 94 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today.

“All of the three new patients are hailing from different areas of Dinajpur district,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain said after completing the testing process at 7 pm.

Talking to BSS, Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the number of COVID-19 patients rose to 15,767 in the division as five new positive cases were reported today.

“The district-wise break up of the total 15,767 patients stands at 4,018 in Rangpur, 789 in Panchagarh, 1,325 in Nilphamari, 964 in Lalmonirhat, 1,012 in Kurigram, 1,506 in Thakurgaon, 4,695 in Dinajpur and 1,458 in Gaibandha districts,” Dr. Siddiqui added.
