DHAKA, Feb 7, 2021 (BSS) – Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi today said that the Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF) 2021 will be held this year at the newly built exhibition center at Purbachal if the coronavirus (COVID-19) situation improves.
“All the necessary preparations were taken to hold the DITF this year. But the prime minister suggested us to suspend the fair for the time being considering the risk of getting infected by this deadly virus. We’ll hold the fair when the situation will improve,” he said.
The commerce minister said this while addressing the handing over ceremony of China-Bangladesh Friendship Exhibition Center to Bangladesh by China.
The exhibition center was built on some 20 acres of land in Purbachal area with technical support and financial grant from China. China State Construction Engineering Corporation has built this center.
Tipu said once the COVID-19 situation improves, the DITF-2021 will be held in this exhibition center and the fair would continue for one month like the previous years.
