JAMALPUR, Feb 7, 2021 (BSS) –The vaccination for Covid-19 began in the district today amid enthusiasm as part of the countrywide programme.
Organising secretary of Awami League Mirza Azam, MP, formally inaugurated the inoculation at Jamalpur General Hospital as the chief guest.
Zila parishad chairman Faruk Ahmed Chowdhury, deputy civil surgeon KM Shafiquzzaman and senior staff nurse Brishti Nag received vaccines at the inaugural ceremony.
Deputy Commissioner Md Enamul Haque, superintendent of police Md Delwar Hossain and civil surgeon Dr Pronoy Kanti Das, among others, were present at the ceremony.
Civil surgeon Dr Pronoy Kanti Das said 72 thousand doses of Covid-19 vaccines will be pushed in phases in 97 booths in seven upazilas of the district.
He said on the first day, 280 people including doctors, freedom fighters, journalists, nurses, BGB members and police received Covid-19 vaccines.
