Six more reported coronavirus positive in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, Feb 5, 2021 (BSS) – Six more people were tested for coronavirus (COVID-19) positive today in Rangpur division where the infection rate continues declining during the last one and a half months.

Health officials said the six new cases were reported today after diagnosing 188 samples at the daily infection rate of 3.19 percent.

Earlier, the daily COVID-19 infection rates were 3.14 percent on Thursday, 1.89 percent on Wednesday, 1.60 percent on Tuesday, 3.95 percent on Monday, 1.46 percent on Sunday and 5.41 percent on Saturday last in the division.

Among the six new patients diagnosed today, two were reported positive after diagnosing 94 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

“The two new infected patients include one each from Rangpur and Kurigram districts,” Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu told BSS tonight.

Meanwhile, four new patients were reported after diagnosing 94 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today.

“The four new patients include three from Dinajpur and one from Panchagarh districts,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain said after completing the testing process at 7:10 pm.

Talking to BSS, Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the number of COVID-19 patients rose to 15,763 in the division as six new positive cases were reported today.

“The district-wise break up of the total 15,763 patients stands at 4,017 in Rangpur, 789 in Panchagarh, 1,325 in Nilphamari, 964 in Lalmonirhat, 1,012 in Kurigram, 1,506 in Thakurgaon, 4,692 in Dinajpur and 1,458 in Gaibandha districts,” Dr. Siddiqui added.
