Govt working for women entrepreneurship development: Shajahan Khan

RAJSHAHI, Feb 5, 2021 (BSS) – Parliamentary Standing Committee Chairman on the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs Shajahan Khan today said the present government has been working relentlessly for the development of women entrepreneurship for women empowerment.

“The government under the dynamic and visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has also attained success in this field,” he added while addressing the Rajshahi Divisional Women Entrepreneurs Conference as the chief guest.

‘Nari Uddoktader Khoje’, a non-government organization working for promotion of women entrepreneurship, hosted the conference at Simante Nogor conference hall in Rajshahi city.

President of Muktijoddha Projonma League Asaduzzaman Durjoy, Assistant General Manager of Kormosangsthan Bank Sirajul Salekeen and Rajshahi Divisional Head of Bangladesh Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry Monira Matin Jonaki also spoke. Founder Chairman of Nari Uddoktader Khoje Urmi Rahman presided over the meeting.

Shajahan Khan mentioned women development is very important for overall development of the nation. So, the government has adopted various need-based measures for taking forward the SME sector and the country has achieved tremendous uplift in every sector with the participation of both men and women.

He said the present government has taken various initiatives to create women-friendly atmosphere in the country so that the women can play an important role in boosting economic development.

Khan emphasised the need for strengthening the efforts of generating entrepreneurs in grassroots through the best uses of area based industrial potentialities.

He put special emphasis on involving more women entrepreneurs with the flourishing of local SME sector to accelerate the pace of national development through enhancing national economic growth and poverty alleviation.

On the occasion, a daylong woman’s entrepreneurs fair was organized at the same venue aimed at expansion of marketing scopes of local products. A total of 26 entrepreneurs took part in the fair showcasing varieties of household items including ladies and gents wear, cosmetics, fashion items and modern ornaments.

Various other modern designed handicrafts and cottage products including three-pieces, one-piece and bedsheet were also being displayed in the fair.
