Bashundhara face Chittagong Abahani in BPL tomorrow

DHAKA, Feb. 4, 2021 (BSS)- Holders Bashundhara Kings take on Chittagong Abahani Limited in one of the sixth round matches of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football scheduled to be held tomorrow at Bangabandhu National Stadium (BNS).

The match kicks off at 3.30 pm.

Unbeatable Bashundhara Kings already dominate the league table maintaining their all-win run in the league with 15 points from five matches while the port city team Chittagong Abahani Limited struggling with seven points playing the same number of matches.

Chittagong Abahani, currently stand at seventh position in their points table, lost valuable points by playing to a 1-1 goal draw with Abahani Limited, Dhaka in their previous match and they must be looking forward to improve their position by snatching the full three points against Bashundhara Kings though it will not be an easy task for Abahani’s coach Maruful Haque’s men.

Chittagong Abahani earlier beat Saif Sporting Club and Arambagh Krira Sangha both by identical margin of 1-0 goal and lost to Lieutenant Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club 1-2 and Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra 0-1.

On the other hand, indomitable Bashundhara Kings have forgotten how to lose a match. The star-studded side of the BPL Bashundhara proved that they are the best side in the league in pen and paper and their aim must be to retain the league title this time as well.

Earlier, Bashundhara Kings made a winning start in the league beating Uttar Baridhara Club by 2-0 goals, defeated Bangladesh Police Football Club by 2-1 goals in the second match, edged past Brothers Union Club by 1-0 goal in the third match, blanked old Dhaka outfit Rahmatganj Muslim and Friends Society by 3-0 goals in the fourth match and dumped Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited 4-1 in the fifth match.

In the day’s other match of the fixture, Abahani Limited, Dhaka met Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra that began at 6 pm at the same venue.

Abahani Limited currently stand at fourth position with 11 points from five matches while Muktijoddha Sangsad KC placed at tenth position with three points from four matches.

Earlier, Abahani Limited, Dhaka made a winning start in the league beating Bangladesh Police Football Club by 1-0 goal in their opening league match, outclassed Brothers Union Club by 2-0 goals in their second match, edged past Rahmatganj Muslim and Friends Society by 1-0 in the third match, played out to a 2-2 goals draw with arch-rival Mohammedan Sporting Club in the fourth match and split point with Chittagong Abahani Limited playing out to a 1-1 goal draw in the fifth match of the league.

While the freedom fighters lost their opening league match to Lieutenant Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club by 1-2 goals margin, beat Arambagh Krira Sangha by 1-0 goal in their second match, lost to Saif Sporting Club by 1-2 margin their third match and suffered 0-1 goal defeat to Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra in the fifth match.

Meanwhile, Mohammedan Sporting Club will play against Uttar Baridhara Club in the day’s third match of the Friday’s fixture scheduled to be held at Shaheed Ahsan Ullah Master Stadium in Tongi at 3 pm.

The black and white Motijheel outfit Mohammedan stand at eighth position with five points from five matches while Baridhara placed at eleventh position with one point from four matches.

Earlier, Mohammedan Sporting Club got off to a winning start in the league beating Arambagh Krira Sangha by 3-0 goals in their opening league match, lost to Saif Sporting Club 1-2 in the second match, played out to a 1-1 goal draw with Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra in the third match, split point with Abahani Limited Dhaka by playing out to a 2-2 goals draw in the fourth match and went down 1-4 defeat to Bashundhara Kings in the fifth match.

While Uttar Baridhara Club lost to Bashundhara Kings by 0-2 goals margin in their league opening match, suffered 0-1 defeat to Bangladesh Police Football Club in the second match, played to a 3-3 goal draw with Brothers Union Club in the third match and lost 1-3 to Rahmatganj Muslim and Friends Society in their fourth match.
